Welcome back Sycamore class!
We hope you have had a lovely half term break. We have some very exciting lessons planned over the next few weeks!
Our topic this half term is The Romans! This is a history based topic where we will use our History lessons to explore the Roman Empire and learn all about life as a Roman soldier. We will also be cooking a Roman recipe as part of our Design and Technology unit.
In science, we are learning about animals and their habitats. We will look at the different animal groups and explore the adaptational features that allow these animals to live in their habitat. We will also look at what classification keys and how we use them to group animals.
In writing, we will be looking at a playscript of Empire's End which is a Roman narrative written by Leila Rasheed. The children will explore a range of skills to support them in writing their own script based on a Roman setting. During our second unit of writing, the children will explore a diary entry of a Roman soldier. Finally, we will learn how to write persuasively and finish the unit by writing a persuasive text on why we should become Roman Legionary.
In Maths, we will be finishing our unit on Multiplication and Division. Following this, we will learn about length and perimeter. We will also be continuing to develop the children's knowledge of times table facts. Our other curriculum lessons this half term will be PSHE, RE and Music.
